ISTKA “Digital Competencies and Entrepreneurship Center” Project Closing Meeting was Held

The “Digital Competencies and Entrepreneurship Center” project, implemented in collaboration with Beykoz Municipality and Turkish-German University with grant support from the ISTKA, was announced at the closing and information meeting held at the Soğuksu Yücel Çelikbilek Youth Center on November 13, 2023. Faculty members, instructors from the Turkish-German University , and students participating in the project attended the meeting. At the closing and information meeting of the project, in which our university's academic staff provided support in the areas of digital content production and digital education platform design, Beykoz Mayor Murat Aydın, our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş, District Director of National Education Sevcenur Özcan, and the project's academic coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Posos Devrani gave a speech.

Beykoz Mayor Murat Aydın stated that with this project, which equips children and youth in the district with digital technology skills and expertise under the guidance of specialists, their goal is to discover talented youth and contribute them to the country and the future.

Our Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş, highlighted the Issue of Digital Competencies and the Ethical and Responsible Use of Technologies 
Our Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş, emphasized the importance of raising awareness of the ethical and responsible use of digital technologies, as well as of the training and collaboration within the scope of the project that provides young people with digital skills and competitiveness in the business world. She stated that the jointly conducted project aims to increase digital competencies and reduce digital inequality, offering awareness and vision to our youth.

District Director of National Education Sevcenur Özcan stated that a similar idea center for young people abroad has been established in the district, emphasizing that, within the scope of the project, young people will have the opportunity to develop their entrepreneurial skills and experience university life firsthand through training prepared by the Turkish-German University.

The academic coordinator of the project, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Posos-Devrani, a faculty member of our University's Department of Culture and Communication Sciences, highlighted the importance of the project.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Posos-Devrani provided detailed information about the project, explaining the digital education provided to young people in line with the project's objectives, as well as the topics and content covered. She emphasized the importance of imparting digital skills and entrepreneurship education to both parents and young people through the training provided within the scope of the project.

During the meeting, certificates of appreciation were presented to the faculty members involved in the project. In this context, Prof. Dr. B. Aykut Arıkan and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Posos Devrani, faculty members of the Faculty of Culture and Social Sciences, and Lecturers Sultan Edip and Sehla Ertan, faculty members of the Distance Education Application and Research Center, received certificates of appreciation for their support and contributions to the project. Following this, the makers workshop, where robotics coding training is provided, was visited, and a detailed review was conducted on the online education platform.
